Senior Loan Review Analyst

The Senior Loan Review Analyst independently reviews moderate-to-high complexity credits, assesses underwriting quality, borrower performance, collateral, and compliance. They engage with lenders on risk-related issues while maintaining appropriate independence. The Senior Loan Review Analyst strengthens credit risk governance by promoting consistent underwriting and risk grading practices that support safe portfolio growth. They contribute to sampling methodologies, review planning, compliance monitoring, and provide leadership within the Loan Review team. The duties listed below may not include all responsibilities that the person in this role may be asked to perform. Incumbent may be required to perform other related duties as assigned. Serve as a lead reviewer for mid-size to large commercial credits of moderate to high complexity, providing independent, risk focused evaluations of: Credit structure and underwriting quality Borrower financial condition and cash flow sustainability Risk grade accuracy and consistency Payment performance and covenant compliance Collateral support and documentation adequacy Compliance with Bank policy and applicable state and federal regulatory requirements Identifies credit weaknesses, adverse trends, underwriting gaps, and policy exceptions, and communicate clear, well supported observations and recommendations to Loan Review Manager and Loan Review Director. Engages directly with lenders and credit officers to discuss underwriting assumptions, risk grades, credit exceptions, and portfolio performance, providing independent analysis and constructive feedback while maintaining appropriate professional independence. Contributes to risk-based Loan Review planning, including loan sampling methodology, scope development, and prioritization of higher risk portfolios. Conducts targeted and thematic reviews of higher risk loan portfolios and credit practices by assessing underwriting discipline, risk grading consistency, policy compliance, and portfolio trends across commercial loan segments, special assets, criticized and classified credits, OREO, and key components supporting the Allowance for Credit Losses (ACL/ALLL). Assists in the preparation and refinement of quarterly Loan Review reports presented to Senior Management and the Audit Committee, including analysis of risk grade migration, underwriting trends, portfolio risk indicators, and key findings. Supports regulatory examinations and internal or external audits by providing clear analysis, documentation, and responses related to Loan Review scope, methodology, and conclusions. Serves as a senior resource within the Loan Review department by providing guidance, promoting consistency in review approach and judgment, and supporting the development of junior analysts. Provides leadership support in the absence of the Loan Review Manager, as assigned. Maintains awareness of financial industry trends, economic conditions, and regulatory developments impacting credit risk and incorporates relevant considerations into review conclusions. Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field; advanced coursework or formal credit training preferred. 6+ years of prior banking experience directly relating to credit analysis, loan review, or credit risk assessment, including evaluation of complex commercial relationships. 10+ years of prior banking or similar financial services experience strongly preferred. Strong working knowledge of commercial credit underwriting, risk grading, regulatory expectations, and multiple loan types (CRE, C&I, construction/development). Familiarity with regulatory guidance related to credit risk management and loan review systems (e.g., OCC, FDIC, Federal Reserve). Perform duties independently, without influence from lending personnel or administration. Strong organizational and analytical skills; able to manage priorities and workflow. Excellent verbal, written, presentation and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to always maintain a high degree of ethical standards and complete confidentiality. Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Excellent analytical, time management, organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to multi-task and work in a deadline-driven environment. Must be self-motivated with strong initiative, high level of accountability, and attention to detail. Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace. Ability to adapt to constant change and periods of fast-paced situations while sticking to and meeting deadlines. Preferred Skills Professional credit certifications such as Credit Risk Certification (CRC) or similar, demonstrating advanced analytical expertise and commitment to professional development.
