Job Summary:
The Technical Writer/Editor gathers, analyzes, and composes technical information into clear and readable documentation for both technical and non-technical audiences. The role supports the development and editing of technical documents, reports, and other deliverables while ensuring adherence to documentation standards, proper technical terminology, and grammatical accuracy. The Technical Writer/Editor also supports meeting documentation and ensures proper handling and formatting of classified and unclassified materials.
Essential Duties:
Gather, analyze, and compose technical information into clear, readable documents for technical and non-technical personnel. Develop and compose technical documents including user manuals, training materials, installation guides, proposals, and reports in accordance with technical documentation guidelines and standards. Edit functional descriptions, system specifications, user manuals, special reports, and other customer deliverables to ensure clarity, accuracy, and grammatical correctness. Conduct research to ensure the correct use of technical terminology and accuracy of documentation. Gather, analyze, and compose meeting minutes and action items. Apply knowledge of classified and unclassified military standards and specifications in documentation activities. Perform classified document marking, handling, and tracking in accordance with applicable requirements. Utilize documentation and data formatting tools such as Microsoft Office to develop and format documents. Experience:
Experience with Naval Surface Warfare Center / DoD Test and Evaluation support preferred. Three (3) years of experience gathering, analyzing, and composing technical information into clear, readable documents for technical and non-technical personnel. Experience composing technical documents including user manuals, training materials, installation guides, proposals, and reports in accordance with technical documentation guidelines and standards. Experience editing functional descriptions, system specifications, user manuals, special reports, and other customer deliverables while ensuring grammatical correctness and proper technical terminology. Experience gathering, analyzing, and composing meeting minutes and action items. Experience working with classified and unclassified military standards and specifications. Experience in classified document marking, handling, and tracking. Experience using documentation and data formatting tools such as Microsoft Office. Knowledge, Skill and Abilities:
