Position Summary The primary function of the Outside Sales position is to be responsible for all sales activities from lead generation through close in an assigned territory. This person will develop and implement the agreed upon Company Marketing Plan and work toward customer satisfaction, revenue generation, and long‑term account goals in line with branch vision, values, and personal business goals. Training will be provided on product knowledge of building materials, including drywall, insulation, metal studs, ceiling systems, construction tools, construction safety items, drywall compound, and other accessories for the drywall industry.

Duties & Responsibilities

Responsible for all steps of the sales process, including preparing action plans by account and product line, effective search and follow‑through of sales leads and new customers.

Identify and execute opportunities for upsell and cross‑sell, establish rapport with customers, build long‑term repeat customer relationships, demonstrate proficiency in product knowledge, and provide timely and accurate competitive pricing on all completed prospect applications submitted for pricing and approval.

Maintain accurate records of sales activity and pricing; gather competitive market and pricing information.

Basic Qualifications

Strong Microsoft Office skills.

Ability to self‑manage is critical; extensive experience in all aspects of supplier relationship management.

Knowledge of building materials and the construction industry strongly preferred.

Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Knowledge of and experience with Excel preferred.

3‑5 years of sales experience preferred.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to remain in a stationary position in an office environment 70% of the time; may occasionally move around inside the office to access files and office machinery.

Must be able to operate basic office machinery.

Must be able to communicate with team and management and exchange accurate information.

The base salary for this position typically falls within the range of $37,500.00 to $75,000.00 annually. Starting wage may vary based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, the position being offered, location, education, training, and/or experience. SRS Distribution offers additional competitive and non‑financial benefits. Depending on the role, associates may also be eligible for performance‑based bonus programs, commissions, profit‑sharing programs, car allowance or automobile and fuel program, and reimbursement for travel expenses in accordance with company travel policy.
