Duties The Director oversees all aspects of Calvary Nursery School in accordance with OEC state regulations and NAEYC guidelines. This role includes leadership of school operations, admissions, enrollment, budgeting, staffing, curriculum oversight, professional development and certifications, health and safety compliance, and long‑term strategic planning. The Director works closely with the CNS Board, Church Vestry, and Rector, while honoring the traditions and history of the school.
Key Responsibilities
Leading and supporting staff through hiring, training, evaluation, and professional development
Building the school community through admissions and enrollment
Maintaining and ensuring a safe and productive learning environment for children
Ensuring high‑quality curriculum, assessment, and family communication
Managing school operations, facilities, finances, and regulatory compliance
Promoting the school through family communication, outreach, and community engagement
Planning the academic calendar, outside learning opportunities, special events, and strategic initiatives
Supporting student development and family needs with care and professionalism
Collaborating with church leadership to foster relationships between school and parish communities and to incorporate inclusive spiritual activities and worship into the school routine.
Requirements The ideal candidate brings leadership experience in early childhood education, strong organizational and communication skills, and a collaborative, flexible management style. A bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education (or related field) is required; advanced degrees and director licensure (or willingness to obtain) are encouraged. CPR, First Aid, and health/safety certifications are required or obtainable.
