GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB To provide personalized service to customers by providing assistance and suggestions in selecting products to meet their needs; to ensure that the department is ready for the customers; to merchandise displays; to ensure accurate pricing and signing is reflected on merchandise and throughout the department.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Demonstrate friendliness towards customers and co-workers
Maintain cleanliness and presentation within the department
Provide personalized customer service within department
Answer incoming phone calls and direct each call to the appropriate store personnel
Ensure every item has a SKU and is priced
Ensure sale items are set before the start of a promo period
Place sale signs out for sales events
Retag items with new changes from buyers
Call other stores for special orders
Rearrange floor sets every two weeks, or as necessary
Spot-check prices and SKU numbers for accuracy
Verify all merchandise has tags
Put away stock that is left in cashier stations
Assist in other areas in the store as necessary
Receive shipments and stock products received
Stock freight and ensure adequate amounts of merchandise available for purchase
Assist cashiers and act as a back-up cashier as necessary
Uphold all cooperative policies
Perform other tasks and duties as required by supervising manager
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
Ability to write simple correspondence
Ability effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
OTHER SKILLS AND/OR ATTRIBUTES
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
High level of integrity
Accuracy and attention to details
Thorough knowledge of the products and brands carried in the assigned department
Ability to read and implement floor plans
