TRIO Talent Search Residential Mentor

Position Overview The Division of Academic & Student Affairs (DASA) hosts the TRIO Talent Search program. The TRIO Talent Search Residential Mentor will supervise students in a live‑on‑site, 24‑hour residential program held from Sunday, June 21 to Tuesday, June 30, 2026. Housing and meals are provided.

Responsibilities

Supervise youth during a one‑week summer residential program (Monday–Friday) and a 3‑night trip (Saturday–Tuesday).

Provide 24‑hour supervision of minors and be available for the entirety of the program in a residential capacity.

Monitor students during both day and evening program activities.

Ensure the safety and supervision of minors, enforce curfews and program rules, and report any behavioural issues to TRIO staff.

Ensure the safety and security of minors while traveling and within residence halls.

Mentor and serve as a positive role model to participants.

All activities, travel, accommodations, meals, etc. while serving as Residential Mentor will be provided.

Work Schedule Sunday, June 21 – Tuesday, June 30, 2026 (24‑hour responsibilities)

Qualifications

Successfully pass background check and reference checks.

Complete required TRIO Orientation Training.

Reliable transportation to/from program site.

Mature with the ability to supervise and direct high school students.

Serve as a positive role model with proven ability to establish rapport with students and staff, encouraging cooperation and a positive attitude.

Experience working with youth from diverse populations.

College seniors, graduate students, former/current teachers, counselors, and TRIO alumni are strongly encouraged to apply.
