Job Overview As a Cosmetic Sales colleague, also known as a Beauty Advisor, your focus is to support the beauty needs of our customers to drive sales. You are a product educator and beauty enthusiast who helps customers feel beautiful and confident. You build a client base and nurture strong client relationships to meet sales goals. You leverage new selling ideas and communicate with customers virtually and via phone. You provide customer consultations, including applying makeup and products.
Full-time colleagues are typically scheduled to work 30 or more hours per week, while part-time colleagues are typically scheduled 12-24 hours per week. What You Will Do
Greet customers in a friendly and helpful manner
Use product knowledge to provide expert guidance based on customer wants, features, and choices
Build relationships with customers by introducing beauty products and uncovering needs
Show and teach the use of beauty products by applying them on the customer
Maintain display, organization, storage and restocking of inventory
Use the clientele program to connect with customers, achieve sales goals, inform about promotions and product launches, and enroll customers in the rewards program
Participate in pre-selling and sales-boosting events to increase sales and reach personal targets
Stay current with training through Macy’s educational resources and vendor trainings
Merchandise new arrivals, process damages, testers and return merchandise to vendors
Utilize point of sale technology to assist in selling and fulfilling customer orders
Follow hygiene standards and asset protection procedures
Foster an inclusive environment and build authentic connections with colleagues, customers, and communities
Skills You Will Need
Product knowledge: Understanding beauty products and ability to guide customers
Communication: Comfortable communicating with customers virtually, by phone, and in person
Sales: Ability to build relationships, achieve sales goals, and participate in events
Technology: Use point of sale systems to sell and fulfill orders
Continuous learning: Self-driven to stay current with beauty products and trends
Makeup application: Ability to apply makeup for customers
Subject matter expertise: Knowledge of vendor lines and beauty trends
Interpersonal skills: Strong collaboration with colleagues across departments
Collaboration: Partner with the Beauty team to drive sales and customer experience

Business-minded with a passion to succeed in a performance-based setting
Able to resolve customer problems constructively
Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
Enthusiasm for the beauty industry and outstanding customer care
Flexible with good judgment in ambiguous situations
Flexible availability including days, evenings, weekends and holidays, with dependable attendance
At least 1 year of customer service or selling experience required
Previous cosmetic or fragrance sales experience is a plus
Essential Physical Requirements Will You Perform
Prolonged periods of standing/walking
Frequent use of computers and handheld devices
Reaching, including above eye level; color vision; ability to crouch and kneel
This position requires lifting and moving items up to 25 lbs
