Job Summary This position markets and sells products manufactured and represented by Watkins according to profit standards, to construction and specialty contractors. Must abide by Company Safety Program and Policies, while performing duties safely. Consistent and reliable attendance is required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Assists in the development and implementation of a strategic marketing plan for Watkins which would include structural concrete masonry, brick, stone, landscape block and pavers, warehouse products, and reinforcing steel.
Develops a comprehensive understanding of the company’s products, as well as understanding the strengths and weaknesses of competitor’s products.
Compiles lists of prospective customers for use as sales leads, based on information from newspapers, business directories, industry ads, trade shows, Internet Web sites, and other sources.
Develops and maintains relationships with customers to enable Watkins to command a sales edge over our competitors.
Assures bids on projects support the company profit standards/margins by executing price and product strategies in conjunction with the marketing plan.
Travels throughout assigned territory to call on regular and prospective customers to develop a business understanding of products and services that they may use now or in the future. May communicate with customers in the field or by phone.
Works with internal groups during the bidding stages of a project to assure products and services are consistent with the customer requirements. Provide leads to other companies within the organization that may be able to provide services or products to meet the customer needs.
Maintains and tracks sales information pertinent to the project for jobs sold, lost or postponed.
Assists in developing and implementing the use of brochures, direct mailers, magazine ads and Watkins website that is consistent with the strategic plan.
Attends and participates in all sales meetings, company meetings, and other events deemed necessary.
Maintains involvement in related industry associations and attends applicable trade shows when needed.
Assures credit and accounts receivable efforts are maintained with new and designated clients.
Represents the company according to a high level of professionalism, ethics, integrity, and product knowledge.

Education and/or Experience
Associates Degree in marketing, construction, or related field; and
3 years experience in comparable sales and service experience; preferably with construction, commercial masonry products or comparable industries; or
An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Valid driver's license. Must be insurable.
Skills and Abilities
Must be customer oriented with proven experience in sourcing and developing a customer base.
Must be able to develop an intricate knowledge of how the products work—and the best way to install them—and pass that expertise on to the customer.
Must be able to read and interpret blueprints of estimates.
Must be able to work occasional weekends and evenings based on business needs or customer requests. Some overnight travel may be required.
