Job Summary/Description:

Portland, Oregon’s #1 news station, FOX 12, has an immediate opening for a Sports MMJ/Reporter. The top candidate will be a dynamic, high-level storyteller who gathers sports news for broadcast, web, and other platforms of the future and has a passion for covering women’s sports. This position will help build our partnership with the WNBA’s Portland Fire and NWSL’s Portland Thorns through in-depth coverage of both teams.

Duties & Responsibilities

Shoot, write, and edit stories

Appear on‑air and coordinate live shots

Develop sources within the sports community and local sports franchises to gain unique insight on Portland’s and Oregon’s pro, college, and other teams

Pitch original story ideas daily involving the local sports community

Work with a sense of immediacy and in a team while exhibiting sound news judgment and ethics

Contribute to Portland Fire pre‑game and post‑game shows throughout the WNBA season

Potential and drive to fill‑in hosting sports specials and shows

Qualifications & Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Journalism or related field preferred

Minimum of two years’ experience as a Sports reporter/MMJ in a local newsroom

Ability to work long hours/overtime, weekends, overnights as needed for breaking news and specialized coverage

Must be able to carry 35+ pounds of gear and be experienced in shooting and editing unique content

Good driving record

Knowledge of ENPS newsroom systems and EDIUS editing systems is preferable
