
Guest Relations Clerk - Boathouse & Outdoor Pools

Hiring Guest Relations Clerk’s for the Carpenter Park Boathouse and our two Outdoor Pools (City Pool & Park Village)
Season for Boathouse is May - September (open Saturdays and Sundays). Season for Outdoor Pools is May-August.
Under general supervision, performs cashier and receptionist duties at a city facility and performs related duties as required.

Front desk services: providing excellent customer service, interacting with customers to answer questions and resolve problems, directing customers to proper locations, providing information, scheduling rooms, making reservations, checking equipment in and out, and assisting the public in general.
Controls facility admission, including collecting drop-in fees, I.D. verification, processing membership registrations and punch card sales, and dispensing photo I.D. cards.
Performs cash handling in accordance with city and department cash handling policies, operating a cash register drawer, compiling daily cash balances and deposit reports.
Communicates with center patrons in person and over the telephone to market and promote programs and services.
Communicates and enforces facility policies and procedures, observes guest use and informs supervisors of improper facility or equipment use.
Maintains records such as inventory, activity reports, receipts, memberships, reservations, and minor financial accounts.
Performs program registration during peak demand periods.
Assists with special projects as assigned; may be required to work overtime; may be responsible for opening and closing shift; may train and mentor less experienced clerks on duties and procedures; performs other duties as assigned.
Education/Experience: Must be at least 16 years old. Six months’ previous customer service, receptionist, or experience dealing with the public, preferably in a related setting. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
Licensing/Certification Requirements: No specific licensing/certification requirements exist for this position.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of city policies, procedures and goals.
Knowledge of general office practices and procedures.
Knowledge of basic mathematics, spelling, grammar, punctuation and vocabulary.
Knowledge of Rec Trac may be required.
Skills: organizing and managing multiple competing tasks; maintaining filing systems; working independently in absent of supervision; providing quality guest services; handling money accurately, conscientiously and honestly; working in a high-usage, fast-paced environment; understanding and carrying out written and verbal instructions; understanding and applying policies and procedures; operating standard office equipment; operating computers and software including word processing, database management, spreadsheets, electronic mail; establishing and maintaining relationships with city employees and the public; dealing with the public mature, effective and responsible manner; listening well and communicating effectively orally and in writing; maintaining keyboard skills; reading, interpreting, explaining policies.
Physical and Mental Requirements: Must sit, stand, walk, finger, talk, hear, see, and make repetitive motions for prolonged periods. Light work: up to 20 pounds occasionally or 10 pounds frequently or negligible amount constantly. Close visual acuity required.
Examinations may include application screening, written, oral, practical exercises or other assessments.
