
Landscape Design & Sales Associate

Bedford Farms is seeking a knowledgeable and design-oriented Landscape Design & Sales Associate to work at the garden center and support our landscape division. This role blends customer engagement, planting design, and project coordination. The ideal candidate is passionate about plants, confident creating on-the-fly designs, and motivated to continuously expand their horticultural knowledge.
Responsibilities/Duties
Engage with garden center customers to develop simple, site-appropriate planting designs, such as:
Rain gardens
Pollinator plantings
Basic foundation and patio surround plantings
Seasonal container designs
Conduct site visits to assess client properties and gather information for design and estimating
Collaborate with management to prepare proposals and planting plans
Communicate design intent clearly through:
Hand sketches
Simple digital mockups (Photoshop, AI visualization or similar tools)
Coordinate with installation crews to execute planting projects
Oversee plant material for assigned projects:
Tagging and organizing inventory
Ensuring plant quality and readiness
Managing material from nursery arrival through installation
Qualifications/Requirements
Strong working knowledge of plants suitable for the Northeast
Ability to create quick, practical design solutions in a retail setting
Comfortable interacting with customers and guiding decisions
Organized and detail-oriented with strong follow-through
Willingness to learn and grow within the horticulture and landscape industry
