Position Summary: The W+ team leads the design and development of scalable, cloud‑native AI‑powered systems that enhance operational reliability and performance. We drive technical strategy and execution across platforms, ensuring architectural integrity and alignment with enterprise standards. With deep expertise in agentic AI, personalized member experiences, and subscription‑based solutions, the W+ team plays a critical role in advancing innovative technologies that move the needle on member lifetime value and business objectives.
What you'll do
Lead Agentic AI Strategy: Direct end-to-end execution of engineering programs focused on AI/ML‑enhanced solutions and agentic AI systems designed to personalize the member journey.
Drive Subscription Metrics: Lead technical initiatives specifically targeting member growth, retention, and churn reduction through data‑driven insights.
Experimentation & A/B Testing: Champion a metrics‑driven culture by overseeing large‑scale A/B experimental frameworks to optimize the W+ user experience and subscription health.
Architectural Guidance: Provide high‑level architectural oversight across backend, frontend, and mobile technologies to standardize and accelerate delivery.
Stakeholder Alignment: Collaborate with Product and Program Management to align milestones and drive software product strategy that impacts key business roadmaps.
Talent Leadership: Cultivate top‑tier engineering talent by mentoring senior leaders and fostering a culture of ownership, technical excellence, and continuous growth.
Operational Excellence: Ensure technical quality and timely delivery by applying sound judgment and proactive issue resolution for high‑availability systems.
What you'll bring
Strategic Leadership: Extensive experience leading software engineering teams with a focus on AI/ML‑enhanced solutions and agentic AI systems.
Subscription Savvy: Proven ability to direct engineering programs for high‑scale subscription models, including expertise in recurring revenue systems and member lifecycle optimization.
Technical Depth: Deep working knowledge of cloud‑native distributed system development and microservices architecture. Knowledge of Walmart store systems will be a huge plus.
Metrics Mastery: Demonstrated success in driving technology roadmaps through rigorous A/B experimental design and data‑driven outcomes.
Mentorship Track Record: Proven track record of mentoring senior leaders and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Operational Vigor: Experience in all areas of engineering including DevOps, SRE, and building resilient Tier 0 production systems.

Salary and Compensation
Bentonville: $130,000 – $260,000 + annual/quarterly performance bonuses + stock
Sunnyvale: $169,000 – $338,000 + annual/quarterly performance bonuses + stock
Minimum Qualifications Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 6 years’ experience in software engineering or related area. Option 2: 8 years’ experience in software engineering or related area. 3 years supervisory experience.
