Equiton is expanding into the U.S. market and is seeking a dynamic and experienced Director, Sales – Private Capital Markets to lead and grow our capital raising efforts in our Direct to Retail investor platform. This is a foundational role, responsible for building our U.S. retail presence from the ground up and setting the strategy for distribution, relationship management, and revenue growth.
Reporting directly to the CEO, the Director, Sales – Private Capital Markets will be a seasoned licensed professional with deep knowledge of investment products (ideally in real estate or alternative investments) and a proven track record of raising capital from retail and high-net-worth investors. The successful candidate will bring a strong understanding of regulatory requirements within the U.S. investment landscape and possess the strategic vision, sales leadership, and hands‑on execution mindset to scale a high-performing retail distribution function in a new market.
While this role will ultimately hire and lead a sales team, it is intentionally designed as a player‑coach role in its early stages, requiring the Director to roll up their sleeves and personally engage in sales activity to build momentum, relationships, and revenue. This role demands an ambitious self‑starter with strong energy, discipline, and a results‑driven mindset to achieve and exceed monthly and annual sales targets.
Key Responsibilities
Lead Equiton’s U.S. retail/direct-to-investor sales efforts in the early phase of market entry, including collaborating with the firm’s marketing and advertising teams on lead generation, overseeing lead follow‑up and qualification, presiding over the client investment and onboarding process, and ensuring high‑touch client relationship management.
Personally engage in retail sales activity during the early stages of market entry, including prospecting, relationship development, pipeline management, and closing capital commitments.
Develop and execute Equiton’s U.S. retail sales strategy refining the go‑to‑market approach as the platform scales.
Build, hire and lead a high‑performing U.S. sales team, focused on capital raising and relationship development.
Collaborate with the firm’s broker‑dealer affiliate and external broker‑dealer partners to support licensed sales activity and regulatory compliance. Contribute to the firm’s strategic evaluation and preparation for potential future U.S. broker‑dealer registration, as required.
Proactively develop and manage a pipeline of business opportunities, continuously build and maintain relationships with private clients, and grow the firm’s distribution network.
Consistently achieve sales targets and contribute to the firm’s overall capital raise objectives.
Ensure high standards of service and compliance for both investor relationships.
Effectively assess investor suitability, provide tailored investment solutions, and represent the firm at corporate and industry events, conferences, and roadshows as required.
Collaborate with internal teams (Marketing, Product, Compliance) to drive U.S. market entry and ongoing growth.
What You Bring
Proven ability to drive capital raising efforts within retail and direct‑to‑investor channels, with a strong network of U.S.-based investor and advisor relationships.
10+ years of experience in financial services, investment product sales, or real estate capital markets, ideally with exposure to private or alternative investments.
Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or related field; advanced designations (e.g., CFA) considered an asset.
U.S. securities licensing (e.g., Series 7 – General Securities, 82 – Private Securities, 63 – State Licensing) is required.
Familiarity with exempt securities like Regulation A and Regulation D offerings.
Strategic sales mindset with exceptional negotiation, presentation, and communication skills.
Demonstrated success as a hands‑on sales leader, capable of both driving revenue personally and building scalable sales teams.
Entrepreneurial drive, self‑motivation, and the ability to perform at a high level with minimal oversight.
A client‑first approach with strong relationship‑building and service orientation.
