Position Summary The Diocese of Houma-Thibodaux is seeking a faith-filled, visionary leader to serve as Superintendent of Catholic Schools. This full-time position provides strategic leadership and oversight for Catholic education across the diocese, ensuring alignment with the mission of forming missionary disciples of Jesus Christ.

The Superintendent promotes a strong Catholic identity, supports school leadership, and advances excellence in academics, operations, and long-term sustainability. This role serves as a key collaborator with pastors, principals, presidents, diocesan leadership, and community partners to strengthen and grow Catholic education.

Key Responsibilities

Provide leadership and oversight for the Office of Catholic Schools and all diocesan schools

Support and supervise principals, presidents, and collaborate with pastors in parochial schools

Promote and strengthen Catholic identity across all schools

Lead and implement diocesan strategic planning initiatives

Serve as liaison to diocesan leadership, including finance and administration

Ensure accountability, governance, and operational excellence

Foster partnerships with diocesan offices and the Catholic Foundation of South Louisiana

Support academic excellence, program development, and school advancement efforts

Serve as an ex officio member of diocesan school advisory boards

Lead public relations efforts to promote Catholic education

Maintain ongoing professional growth and leadership development

Qualifications & Experience

Master’s degree in Education with certification in Administration/Supervision or Educational Leadership

Minimum of 10 years of successful experience in Catholic school teaching and/or administration

Practicing Roman Catholic in good standing with the Church

Preferred

Experience as a principal or senior‑level school leader

Proven experience in strategic planning and program development

Budget management and financial oversight experience

Knowledge, Skills, & Attributes

Strong leadership rooted in Catholic mission and values

Ability to build relationships across diverse stakeholders

Excellent communication and presentation skills

Strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities

Experience with instructional standards and school improvement

Proficiency in Microsoft Office, virtual platforms, and digital communication

Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed

Ability to complete Diocesan Safe Environment requirements

9 Catholic elementary schools

2 Catholic high schools

1 PreK–12 Catholic school

38 parishes and 6 mission communities

Work Schedule

Full‑Time, 12‑month position

Occasional evening and weekend commitments required
