Director of Research & Development

$150k-$190k + bonus
Established food product manufacturer needs a
Director of Research & Development
to lead a technical team to bring new products to market.
Work with marketing, sales, culinary, and supply chain to identify and develop product improvement, line extensions, new product opportunities.
Provide technical leadership for producible, repeatable, and compliant formulation.
Manage product development and productivity improvement projects
Interface with vendors to prove processes and align for manufacture.
Oversee design documentation and product qualification
Build systems to manage the many areas of R&D, report effectiveness of the work, and assist in directing the R&D team in coaching and prioritization.
Manage the R&D projects, allocating resources to assure accurate and timely results
Work with sales and marketing to build customer relationships to better understand their businesses and build custom solutions.
Train and on-board new hires.
Oversee lab and facilities maintenance
Support customer demonstrations, ideations, and immersions; allocating time to innovation.
Knowledge of ingredient functionality, food preservation methods, flavor delivery, HACCP, food safety, people safety, food manufacturing processes, food processing equipment, sensory testing, food engineering, packaging engineering, and experimental design .
Experience building and managing governance processes to manage business.
5+ years in a technical leadership role.
Demonstrated success bringing innovative technology to market
Relevant experience in food technologies and manufacturing.
Bachelor’s in food science or related scientific field preferred.
