Volunteer: Website UX/UI Updates (WordPress)

Operation Meraki, Pickerington, OH, United States

About the Opportunity This is a volunteer opportunity provided by Taproot Foundation, a nonprofit creating social change through pro‑bono connections.

We are seeking a talented UX/UI Web Designer with WordPress experience to overhaul Operation Meraki’s existing website. Our goal is to transform our current site into a high‑converting digital hub. Over the 6‑to‑8‑week project (about 3-5 hours/week), we need the volunteer to:

Responsibilities

Evaluate our current site's user journey and identify friction points.

Redesign the homepage with a powerful layout, striking imagery, and clear calls to action (CTAs).

Create visually compelling, high‑converting landing pages for our core actions: “Donate,” “Volunteer,” and “Programs.”

Implement these new designs directly into our existing WordPress site using our current theme/page builder.

Note: This project focuses on front‑end visual design and UX; it does not require custom backend PHP coding or server migration.

At Operation Meraki, our mission is to transform veterans’ lives by providing comprehensive support as they transition to their next mission in life.

A powerful, easy‑to‑navigate website is critical to ensuring no veteran falls through the cracks. This redesign will make it effortless for veterans to find and access our career and mental health services.

Furthermore, a professional, high‑converting site will allow us to better communicate our impact to corporate sponsors and community donors in Columbus, directly increasing the funding we have available to support our veterans.

What We’ll Provide You With

Immediate administrator access to our WordPress dashboard.

A comprehensive folder of high‑resolution photography featuring our veteran programs and brand assets (logos, colors).

All finalized text copy and impact data, so you do not have to write content from scratch.

We have internal alignment on this project's goals, and our Executive Director will serve as the direct point of contact, ensuring prompt feedback and approvals during weekly check‑ins to help the volunteer maintain momentum.

Operation Meraki Mission We challenge and change the veteran transition landscape by helping our service members and their families bridge from the uniform to build new professional and personal lives. We help people create their next life mission. We do this through our Scout to Pathfinder program.
