Overview As the only aerial tramway in Southeast Alaska, guests at the Goldbelt Tram are invited to soar to new heights in scenic adventure aboard Juneau's top attraction. We offer locals and visitors an opportunity to experience breathtaking Alaska scenery, explore the miles of trails atop Mount Roberts, and learn more about Alaska Native culture.

Summary Under the direction of the Tram Operations Manager and/or the Director of Ops & Facilities, personnel must be knowledgeable of operational and emergency procedures and related equipment needed to perform assigned duties. All personnel shall use reasonable care while performing their duties.

We're excited to share that the job is based in beautiful Juneau, Alaska! We kindly ask that all applicants either live in Juneau or be open to relocating at their own expense.

Pay and Benefits Seasonal employees are eligible for the Seasonal Employee Layoff Bonus Plan and may receive discretionary performance bonuses at the company's sole discretion. Starting rate: $26.00 – DOE.

Responsibilities

Assume responsible charge of the aerial tramway and Tram Control, maintaining operational logs per ANSI B-77 guidelines.

Assist the Tram Operations Supervisor with daily or shift assignments and supervision of all Tram Attendants.

Verify pre‑operational inspection per ANSI B-77 2.3.2.4.2 is completed and documented before public operation.

Start the aerial tramway for public operation per ANSI B-77 2.3.3.5.2.

Maintain operational logs per ANSI B-77 2.3.5.1.

Deny access to the aerial tramway to any person per procedures and criteria provided.

Advise the Tram Operations Supervisor of observed abnormal or unusual conditions that may adversely affect safety.

Terminate passenger operations per ANSI B-77 2.3.2.5.8.

Handle normal operational and emergency evacuation procedures, including rope evacuation and rescue car operations.

Start standby diesel engine generator as directed and maintain communication with all Tram Attendants regarding passenger load and issues.

Monitor weather patterns and report to maintenance as needed.

Monitor water system.

Function as a Tram Attendant during normal operation, staff absences, emergencies, or break relief.

Perform other incidental and related duties as required.

Qualifications Necessary Skills and Knowledge

Meet time and attendance requirements.

Work all schedules including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Handle stress under pressure.

Provide quality customer service.

Physically lower passengers and assist with auxiliary mode operation.

Excellent communication and superior customer service skills.

Problem‑solve operational issues and identify consequences of incorrect operation.

Follow verbal and written instructions.

Operate personal computers with a variety of software.

Understand tram operations systems.

Build cooperative working relationships with other employees.

Balance console operation with customer service to walk‑up inquirers.

Interact directly with the public, providing prompt and courteous assistance.

Educate guests on local history, people, culture, and geography.

Remain calm during tram operation stoppages when guests rely on guidance.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.

Successfully pass a background check.

Completion of one season as a Tram Cabin Conductor (with GATI) or as an aerial tram operator/attendant elsewhere.

Current CPR certification and First Aid training, or ability to obtain within 30 days.

Preferred Qualifications

Valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record.
