Assistant Director of Positive Options
in Columbia, South Carolina. The Assistant Director utilizes best practices and technology within a community-based setting to teach individuals with developmental disabilities the physical, intellectual, emotional, and social skills necessary to live as independently as possible. This role requires the ability to train in public environments, exercise patience, maintain flexibility in scheduling, and respond effectively to crisis situations. Creativity and ingenuity are essential when determining the most effective training methods, assistance, and support for each individual. This position requires travel to all four South Carolina offices: Myrtle Beach, Columbia, Greenville, and Charleston. Starting salary $85,000+ based on background and experience.
Responsibilities
Recruit, train, and mentor new behavioral support staff
Conduct training on best practices in positive behavioral supports
Conduct one-on-one observation and interaction with individuals receiving services
Attend staff meetings across multiple locations
Complete functional assessments for identified individuals
Develop prevention plans and behavioral support plans as needed
Train staff on the implementation of support plans
Participate in Circle(s) of Support for personal future planning
Prepare progress reports for individuals’ support networks, including family members, guardians, staff, employment specialists, case managers, and other professionals
Attend conferences, seminars, and trainings as assigned
Perform other duties as assigned
Cooperate with licensing and department staff during inspections, inquiries, or investigations
Minimum Requirements
BCBA-D or BCBA certification, OR a Master’s degree in a related field with at least two years of experience applying principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) in the habilitation of individuals with intellectual or related disabilities, including experience developing behavior support plans
Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record
