Position Summary Boone County Joint Communications is hiring a Radio Technician to provide advanced technical support for mission-critical communication systems. This role is essential in ensuring reliable communication for public safety operations.
Key Responsibilities
Perform advanced technical support for two-way radio systems
Maintain and repair:
Conventional VHF and UHF base stations
800 MHz trunking systems
Microwave and radio linking systems
Support networking and telephony systems
Program and troubleshoot portable and mobile two-way radios
Respond to system issues, including after-hours emergencies as required
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED
One or more of the following:
Working knowledge of networking
Amateur radio license
Associate’s degree in electronics or related field
Equivalent combination of education and experience
Valid driver’s license (must be maintained)
Ability to lift over 50 poundsAvailability for after-hours emergency response
Clear criminal record (excluding traffic violations)
Ability to pass an FBI criminal background check, including national fingerprinting
Preferred Qualifications
General Radiotelephone Operator License
Technical diploma or bachelor’s degree in electronics from an accredited school or college
Compensation Starting Pay: $24.87 – $25.63 per hour Benefits included
