Director of Tax
A growing publicly traded organization is seeking a Director of Tax to lead its tax strategy, compliance, reporting, and planning functions. This role oversees all aspects of corporate tax operations across federal, state, local, and international jurisdictions, while ensuring strong internal controls and alignment with financial reporting requirements. The Director will manage a team of tax professionals and partner closely with internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the company’s overall tax function, including compliance, provision, planning, audits, and reporting.
Oversee quarterly and annual tax provision processes, including effective tax rate analysis and financial statement disclosures.
Review major tax filings to ensure accuracy, consistency, and alignment with corporate tax positions.
Ensure timely and accurate filing of all tax returns and payments across multiple jurisdictions.
Monitor tax legislation and assess implications for the business.
Develop strategies to optimize the company’s tax structure and minimize liabilities.
Provide forecasting for income tax expense and cash taxes to support strategic decision‑making.
Manage relationships with external advisors, auditors, and tax authorities.
Strengthen tax processes, internal controls, and operating models, including workflow improvements and automation initiatives.
Support M&A and restructuring activities, including due diligence, modeling, and integration.
Serve as a key resource for tax considerations related to corporate transactions.
Maintain compliance with internal control requirements and support SOX‑related activities.
Collaborate with Finance, Accounting, Legal, and other teams to ensure alignment across functions.
Qualifications
15+ years of corporate tax experience within large or complex organizations.
Strong background in U.S. corporate tax, GAAP, and tax accounting standards.
Experience leading tax teams within a public company environment.
Proven ability to manage external tax service providers.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; advanced tax degree preferred.
Professional certification (CPA) strongly preferred.

Ability to drive process improvements and implement scalable tax solutions.
Experience assessing and mitigating tax‑related risks.

Compensation & Benefits
Salary range: $175,000-$200,000 , depending on experience.
