Job Summary You must be a current UK student to apply for this position. This position is located off campus with a local Lexington employer and is not affiliated with UK. The Lexington Parks and Recreation Department hosts a variety of outdoor special events throughout the season, varying in size, type, and location. Seasonal Special Event Staff supports these events in multiple capacities, including, but not limited to:

Acting as parking attendants and assisting with crowd control

Setting up and breaking down event supplies and equipment

Lifting and loading event materials up to 50 lbs.

Providing excellent customer service and serving as positive representatives of the department

Performing other duties as needed to ensure the smooth operation of events

This is a seasonal, temporary, part‑time position with hours that vary based on the event schedule, including many evenings and weekends from May through October. Staff may choose from a list of available events.

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

Ability to follow instructions accurately and efficiently

Strong communication skills, both verbal and interpersonal

Dependable and punctual with a professional attitude

Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting and loading materials up to 50 lbs.

Comfort working outdoors in various weather conditions

Preferred Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

Previous experience in event management or customer service

Experience with parking or crowd control

Ability to work independently as well as part of a team

Flexibility to work varied hours, including evenings and weekends

Positive and approachable demeanor when interacting with the public
