JOB SUMMARY Under minimal supervision, this position hosts music or other programs on one or more IRSC Public Media stations. Duties include: preparing for the show by researching content or music; operating the automation system; editing content; voicing programs either live or via voice‑tracking.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Host a regular program on broadcast and online platforms.
Produce and electronically edit segments for air; use editing tools to maintain high standards of sound quality.
Produce and edit Underwriting, Promotional, and Public Service Announcements, as needed.
Work weekends, early morning, or evening work hours as needed.
Complete all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
Associate Degree; two (2) years of related media experience (radio, TV, podcast or similar), as well as working with professional audio equipment, computers, portable recording devices, and editing software; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
Knowledge of radio station operations, journalistic and broadcast standards, and FCC rules.
Ability to write and orally deliver content on‑air, live and recorded.
Skill in working with professional audio equipment, computers, portable recording devices, and editing software for broadcasts.
Skill in organizing, managing time, and prioritizing.
Ability to be accurate, detail‑oriented, master new broadcast technologies, meet deadlines, be self‑motivated, use good judgment, multi‑task, be creative, and work independently as well as with others.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS This position classifies the physical exertion requirements as sedentary work involving lifting no more than 10 pounds at a time and occasionally lifting or carrying articles. Some walking and standing is often necessary.
ADDITIONAL EXPECTATIONS Requirements represent minimum levels of knowledge, skills and/or abilities. To perform this job successfully, the employee must possess the abilities or aptitudes to perform each duty proficiently. All employees are expected to maintain professional standards of communication, learn and apply new technology, and abide by all policies and procedures. Continued employment remains on an “at‑will” basis.
