Executive Assistant to the Project Director/Deputy Project Director Bronx Legal Services, part of Legal Services NYC, is the largest provider of free civil legal services to low‑income New Yorkers. The organization has served the Bronx’s diverse population for nearly six decades and works in housing, public benefits, health care, disability rights, family law, immigration law, consumer law, education, and employment rights. Its mission is to fight poverty and achieve racial, social, and economic justice.

Salary: $78,370 – $120,788 USD. Benefits include comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance, generous vacation (21 days first year, 28 days thereafter), 14 paid holidays, 18 sick days, industry‑leading parental leave, fertility treatment coverage, student loan repayment assistance, and eligibility for Public Service Loan Forgiveness.

Responsibilities

Serve as a key liaison between the Project Director, Deputy Project Director, staff, board members, elected officials, and external partners.

Evaluate, improve, and implement office systems, procedures, and workflows.

Assist with grants, audits, compliance, and fiscal tasks.

Provide backup administrative support to the Board of Directors.

Support hiring, onboarding, and HR documentation for staff, interns, and volunteers.

Assist with facility management for a multi‑site office.

Manage correspondence and coordinate with elected officials and community groups.

Assist with community outreach and intern‑program tasks.

Schedule and coordinate meetings and events.

Communicate with the central office and other borough offices.

Complete special projects as assigned by the Project Director and Deputy Project Director.

Qualifications

5–8 years of secretarial or administrative experience.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Commitment to social justice and experience working with diverse, low‑income communities.

Strong oral and interpersonal communication skills.

Ability to interface successfully with board members, government officials, and private funders.

Excellent writing and editing skills.

Proficiency with the entire MS Office suite, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Adobe Pro, and quick to learn additional software.

Experience working in a fast‑paced environment, managing multiple priorities, and meeting deadlines.

Experience with office administration and communications.

Collaborative team player who also works well independently.

Strong problem‑solving skills and good judgment.

Preferred: experience working with Bronx low‑income communities and/or local community‑based organizations.

Employment Conditions The position is hybrid, permitting up to 50% remote work where job duties allow.
