Role Overview As a Brand Designer at CHAOS, you will play a vital role in creating visually engaging designs and graphics that effectively convey complex information, concepts, and technical data. You are a strong communicator who will work with cross‑functional teams of engineers, designers, and subject matter experts, rapidly iterating on ideas, addressing points of feedback, and finding compelling visual solutions. The ideal candidate can think strategically, push the standards of design higher, help build out our design guidelines, and execute quickly and efficiently. Projects include: brand asset management, slide decks, technical diagrams, illustrations, graphics, branding, layout and website design.

Responsibilities

Develop comprehensive brand identity systems including typography, color, imagery, and visual language

Create brand guidelines and design systems that scale across digital, print, and environmental applications

Create key brand assets and templates, graphics, illustrations, and visual assets for various projects, slide decks, proposals, marketing materials, and digital media

Create systems and templates that help support our business development teams and increase the quality of future projects

Collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams to gather project requirements, feedback, and technical details to ensure accurate and effective design solutions

Transform complex technical data and information into clear and engaging visual representations, such as infographics and diagrams

Exercise judgment and project management skills to balance priorities and communicate with teams to meet or exceed project deadlines; keep internal clients informed on projects and progress

Ensure the accuracy, consistency, and quality of all design work produced

Develop long‑term design strategies, staying ahead of the curve on design technologies and how they can be applied to the needs of the team

Partner closely with engineers, designers, and stakeholders to iterate on new concepts and effectively communicate messaging

Partner with external agencies, freelancers, and vendors as needed

Minimum Qualifications

Strong familiarity with leading brand identity work, working at scale, and working across many different mediums

Proven track record leading projects from strategy through execution

Ability to transform complex ideas into compelling narratives

Mastery of design, typography, color theory, illustration, composition, and form

Fluency in Figma and Adobe Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, etc.)

Ability to work strategically and effectively in a fast‑paced environment and adapt to shifting priorities

Excellent presentation and communication skills and stakeholder management

Ability to work hybrid in either in San Francisco or Los Angeles (our HQ is currently in Hawthorne)

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in design, art, architecture, or industrial design

Experience with motion and animation

Experience with photography and videography

Experience with 3D software (Cinema4D or similar)

Salary Range: $110,000 - $145,000

The stated compensation range reflects only the targeted base compensation range and excludes additional earnings such as bonus, equity, and benefits. The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. Actual salary offer may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations.
