Established in 1975 and affiliated with the United States Tennis Association (USTA), NJTLT is a part of a nationwide network founded by Arthur Ashe and other tennis legends to serve underprivileged youth. Based in Trenton, NJ, NJTLT provides comprehensive programs such as life skills and tennis training, academic support through the ACE program, summer camps, and college scholarships. Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Director of Development to lead our fundraising and relationship-building efforts, fueling our organization’s growth and impact. In this vital role, you will craft innovative strategies to secure funding, cultivate donor relationships, and expand our community engagement. Your leadership will drive the development of compelling proposals, oversee fundraising campaigns, and manage key partnerships to ensure sustainable success. This position offers an exciting opportunity to shape the future of our organization through strategic planning, creative outreach, and effective resource management.
Responsibilities
Develop and implement comprehensive fundraising strategies aligned with organizational goals, including digital marketing and email campaigns using platforms such as Constant Contact.
Lead proposal writing efforts for grants, sponsorships, and major gifts, ensuring clarity, impact, and compliance with funder requirements.
Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with donors, volunteers, partners, and community stakeholders through personalized engagement and strategic relationship management.
Oversee all aspects of event planning and management for fundraising events, donor appreciation gatherings, and community outreach initiatives.
Manage CRM database on Salesforce or Bloomerang to track donations, prospect research data, and campaign performance metrics.
Coordinate public relations efforts across social media platforms and WordPress websites to enhance visibility and engagement.
Prepare detailed reports on fundraising progress, data collection insights, budget adherence, and strategic planning outcomes for leadership review.
Qualifications
Undergraduate degree or higher
Proven experience in nonprofit management or development leadership with a strong background in fundraising strategies (2 to 3 years' experience)
Expertise in proposal writing for grants, major gifts, and estate planning including wills, trusts & estate law.
Skilled in event management, digital marketing tools (Mailchimp, Constant Contact), social media management, and CRM systems like Bloomerang or Salesforce.
Demonstrated ability in negotiation, relationship management, research, and public relations to foster community support.
Knowledge of budgeting processes along with experience in data collection and analysis to inform strategic decisions.
Familiarity with sports-based youth development nonprofit environments is highly desirable; experience with volunteer management is a plus.
Strong communication skills with the ability to craft compelling narratives that inspire support across diverse audiences.
