UX/UI Designer - Mobile
Herbalife International, Inc., Los Angeles, CA, United States
Overview
Pro2col is a new digital product initiative within Herbalife, focused on modernizing how consumers engage with our brand through web and mobile experiences. We are building a scalable digital platform from the ground up and assembling a founding team of designers who want to shape the experience — not inherit someone else’s system.
Mobile is central to how our consumers will interact with Pro2col. This role exists to make that experience exceptional — and you will be the person who defines what it looks, feels, and behaves like.
As a UX / UI Designer for Mobile, you will own the end‑to‑end design of our iOS and Android experience — from early concept and user flows through to detailed, production‑ready interface specifications. You bring deep knowledge of mobile UX patterns, platform conventions, and gesture‑driven interaction to a team building something new.
You will partner closely with the web designer to establish a unified product design language, and work directly with engineers to ensure what gets built matches what was designed — down to the detail.
HOW YOU’LL CONTRIBUTE Lead Mobile UX and UI Design
Own end‑to‑end design for the mobile app — user flows, wireframes, high‑fidelity UI, and final specifications
Design for both iOS and Android, respecting platform conventions (iOS HIG, Material Design) while maintaining a cohesive brand identity
Create gesture‑driven, thumb‑friendly experiences that feel native, intuitive, and fast
Design for accessibility from the start — contrast ratios, tap targets, screen reader compatibility, and beyond
Prototype to Validate — Not just to Present Prototyping in this role is a core design discipline, not a deliverable.
Deliver rapid Figma prototypes — clickable through interaction‑ready — to validate flows, content, and edge cases before engineering begins
Produce design‑system‑aligned, componentized prototypes with clear annotations and acceptance criteria to enable predictable engineering delivery
Use prototypes as a primary tool to surface UX risks, test assumptions with real users, and align stakeholders before build
Build the Mobile Design System
Establish and maintain a mobile component library and design system in Figma
Define mobile‑specific patterns for navigation, onboarding, notifications, empty states, and key user journeys
Collaborate with the web designer to align shared design language and tokens across platforms
Evolve the system as the product matures, balancing consistency with the need to move quickly
Partner with Product and Engineering
Work directly with engineers to produce clear, annotated specs and handoff assets that leave no room for interpretation
Collaborate with product management to shape feature definitions from a user experience perspective
Participate in usability testing sessions and incorporate findings into iterative design improvements
Contribute to design critiques and help maintain a high quality bar across the full product
WHY THIS ROLE IS DIFFERENT Most mobile design roles ask you to improve an existing app. This one asks you to invent it.
The intuitiveness and quality of the mobile experiences you design
The robustness and scalability of the mobile design system you establish
The degree to which your prototypes and design decisions reduce risk and ambiguity for engineering
Your influence on product direction — not just the screens you hand off
Qualifications SKILLS AND BACKGROUND REQUIRED TO BE SUCCESSFUL
5+ years of UX / UI design experience with a clear focus on mobile (iOS and/or Android)
Expert proficiency in Figma, including component-based design, prototyping, auto‑layout, and design system management
Comfort with Sketch or Adobe XD as supplementary tools
Deep knowledge of iOS Human Interface Guidelines and Android Material Design principles
Strong portfolio demonstrating both UX problem‑solving and high‑quality visual design for mobile products
Proven experience building and maintaining mobile design systems and component libraries
Track record of close, effective collaboration with engineering teams through to implementation
NICE TO HAVE
Experience designing for both iOS and Android simultaneously within a single design system
Familiarity with React Native or mobile development constraints — you don’t need to code, but understanding what’s technically complex vs. straightforward is a genuine asset
Background in consumer apps, health and wellness, or e‑commerce
Experience with mobile motion design and animation patterns
Familiarity with App Store and Google Play design review requirements
Exposure to UX research methods and usability testing facilitation
EDUCATION
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Human‑Computer Interaction, Design, or related field; exceptional portfolios demonstrating learning‑driven experience engineering may substitute for formal education.
Preferred: Master’s degree in HCI, Interaction Design, Computer Science, or related field; portfolio demonstrating excellence in both code quality and user experience.
Certifications: Front‑end development certifications, UX certifications, Web Accessibility certifications (IAAP) valuable.
