What you will do: As a Corporate Communications Specialist for Tillamook, you will be a lead writer and editor, shaping and amplifying communications that resonate with diverse audiences impacted by the Tillamook business. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring clarity, transparency and engagement among our key stakeholders. You’ll be at the heart of executing dynamic corporate communications plans and strategies, crafting compelling content and orchestrating memorable employee events. This role will collaborate closely with the Corporate Communications team and partner cross‑functionally with departments like Operations, Stewardship, People & Culture, Information Technology, Farm Services and Brand Marketing to help support business results with impactful communications.
Responsible for a wide variety of writing and editing assignments, this role requires a deep understanding of AP style and fluency in multi‑channel communication.
Here’s a day in the life:
Craft engaging content – write and edit communications materials tailored to Tillamook’s business needs, ensuring messages resonate with multiple stakeholder audiences.
Create impactful publications – design and produce employee newsletters and contribute to key company publications like the Annual Report and Stewardship Report.
Facilitate internal digital communication – develop and update content for Tillamook’s intranet, emails and digital signage, keeping information timely and engaging; train and support employees in using these channels.
Execute LinkedIn strategy – strengthen Tillamook’s presence on LinkedIn by writing posts, sourcing visual assets, managing the community, encouraging employee engagement, tracking analytics and reporting results.
Execute memorable employee events – lead planning, promotion and execution of employee meetings and events at all company locations, coordinating logistics, managing volunteers and overseeing event setup and breakdown.
Amplify compelling business stories – identify and collaborate on storytelling opportunities with the Brand team and agency partners to amplify corporate topics in external channels.
Monitor media coverage – keep an eye on news media for mentions of Tillamook and key issues, delivering regular coverage reports to internal stakeholders.
Support team integration and organization – oversee and maintain departmental and corporate events and editorial calendars to ensure team visibility and collaboration.
Measure success – track and report on key communication and event metrics and contribute ideas to improve communication strategies based on data and insights.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities Education
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or a related field.
Experience
3‑5 years of professional experience in corporate communications or a similar field, with demonstrated experience executing communications plans, writing and editing materials for diverse audiences, and organizing events and meetings.
Skills
Excellent writing and editing skills, mastery of AP style, and ability to communicate complex information clearly, concisely and engagingly.
Strong organizational and time‑management skills, capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously and meeting deadlines.
Thorough attention to detail, accuracy and follow‑through.
Creative problem‑solving abilities.
Flexibility to adapt to a fast‑paced environment and changing priorities.
Collaborative team player with ability to build relationships at all levels of the company and with external partners.
Proficiency with computer systems, especially Microsoft programs (Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint). Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, FirstUp, Spectrio and goHappy is a plus.
Media relations and/or PR experience is a plus.
Location & Travel
This is a hybrid role based at our Portland office, with expectations to be in‑office multiple days and flexibility to work remotely part of the week.
Regular travel is required throughout the year between Oregon sites (Tillamook and Boardman) and out‑of‑state (Decatur, Illinois) for larger employee events, meetings, onboarding and other business needs.
