About the Opportunity
The Visual & Broadcast Design Intern supports the PBS North Carolina Creative Team in developing and executing visual design assets that promote programming, campaigns, and organizational initiatives. The intern assists with the creation of brand‑aligned graphics and marketing materials while gaining exposure to the public media production environment. This role provides practical experience in a collaborative creative setting and contributes to projects that support storytelling and community engagement across North Carolina.
This position is a hybrid work arrangement requiring 2‑3 days per week onsite at the Bryan Center in Research Triangle Park, NC. UNC System employees are generally required to reside in North Carolina, within a 2‑hour commuting distance of their assigned duty station.
Qualifications
Recent college graduate from a constituent institution within the University of North Carolina system (must have graduated in Spring 2025 or after) OR currently enrolled as a full‑time undergraduate (at least 12 semester hours) OR a graduate student (9 semester hours).
Pursuing or recently obtained a degree in graphic design, visual communication, or a related creative field.
Basic proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud, including Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
Demonstrated interest in graphic design, branding, visual storytelling, or marketing communications.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team‑oriented environment.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet project deadlines.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Willingness to learn and adapt in a professional creative environment.
Preferred Skills
Experience or coursework in motion graphics or video editing.
Familiarity with Adobe Premiere Pro and/or After Effects.
Interest in public media, broadcast production, or storytelling through visual design.
Understanding of brand standards and design systems.
