Electrical Designer - Position and Responsibilities
As an Electrical Designer with Middough, you will create and establish simple designs consistent with good practices, client requirements and conformance to Codes & Standards. In this role, you will also apply standard drafting techniques to generate and interpret drawings in support of assigned projects and provide guidance and leadership to drafters to ensure that all established Company and client design standards and practices are followed. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Develop electrical system designs for power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and communication systems.
Generate design and detail drawings including plans/sections, and isometrics to support Discipline Leads.
Collaborate with the design team of engineers and drafters to produce a complete drawing installation package.
Create physical layout drawings, equipment details, conduit routing, grounding, and cable schedules.
Generate wiring diagrams from electrical schematics.
Manage and maintain the project documentation (e.g., flat files, reference/stick files, CAD drawings).
May serve as a lead for select single-discipline projects by estimating work hours, developing scope of work, and maintaining quality processes.
Work with engineers on multiple projects at one time to manage project hours and deliverables.
Interact with other departments and suppliers to obtain pertinent information.
Interact with clients to convey project design and identify scope changes.
Produce high quality electronic documentation and design packages.
Support advanced facility projects from concept through delivery, ensuring accuracy and technical excellence.
Help drive consistency, quality, and innovation within the company electrical design standards.
Collaborate with project teams in fast paced environment.
Education, Experience and Skills The successful candidate will possess the following:
Associate Degree in a technical discipline or related experience required.
5+ years of drafting experience required.
2+ years of Revit Design experience required.
Proficiency in AutoCAD 2D and Revit MEP with strong 2D and 3D drafting capabilities required.
Basic knowledge of Bluebeam Revu software is required.
Plant 3D, or other 3D design software knowledge is preferred.
Electrical design experience in chemical and industrial experience preferred.
Navisworks software knowledge is preferred.
Working knowledge of National Electric Codes, reference documents and guides.
Knowledge of power distribution (480V - 12kV, lighting, grounding, motor controls, and heat tracing).
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and attention to detail abilities.
Strong multitasking, collaboration, and organizational abilities for efficiency.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
