The Facility Design Support Team is looking for the next individual to serve as their Designer III. This is a mid‑level position performing Facility Design Support Team job duties. The work requires knowledge of CAD applications; ProjectWise database; Microstation Connect (2D and 3D modeling), Inroads and OpenRoads, Microsoft Office 365; BlueBeam, and SharePoint.
What You'll do:
Ensure design excellence by reviewing work for compliance with applicable codes, standards, and best practices.
Elevate drawing quality through thoughtful review of presentation, detailing, and overall organization.
Drive projects from vision to reality by leading the development of conceptual, preliminary, and final design drawings.
Look for efficiencies through strategic site planning.
Integrate cost and schedule insights from multiple disciplines to support informed budgeting, scheduling, and resource recommendations.
Conduct targeted research and data analysis, translating technical findings into clear, actionable presentations.
Schedule: 9/80, Monday through Friday, every other Friday Off.
Hybrid: Metropolitan's current practice in this position is a hybrid work schedule. This typically includes two days a week in person and the other days remote. This is subject to change dependent on organizational needs. In addition, a telework policy is scheduled for negotiations and once completed and implemented, will provide final direction on the hybrid schedule.
Education and Experience: High school diploma or a Certificate of High School equivalency and four years of increasingly responsible, relevant experience; or three years of relevant experience and twelve quarter units or eight semester units from an accredited college, university, or vocational school.
Relevant experience is defined as: Experience with the preparation and coordination of civil design drawings (grading, alignments, plan and profiles) utilizing Bentley Microstation Connect, Inroads, OpenRoads software; knowledge of civil symbols, legends and civil design; experience with the use of computer-aided design (3D modeling CAD) methods and practices.
Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations Requirements
Valid California Class C Driver's License or equivalent (required at time of application) that allows you to drive during your employment.
