Automotive Account Manager
Location: Troy, Michigan (Hybrid)
Travel: Occasional domestic and international travel required
Position Overview We are seeking a results-driven Automotive Account Manager to lead and grow business with major OEM customers, with a strong emphasis on Ford and Toyota. This individual will manage the full sales lifecycle—from RFQ through program launch—while serving as the primary customer interface for interior and exterior trim components, as well as plastic injection molded products. This is a high-visibility role requiring strong technical sales acumen, relationship-building skills, and a deep understanding of automotive program management and launch processes.
Key Responsibilities Serve as the primary commercial contact for assigned OEM accounts, with a focus on Ford and Toyota
Manage the full sales cycle including RFQ review, quoting, negotiation, award, and program launch
Develop and execute account strategies to grow revenue and expand product penetration
Lead cross-functional coordination between engineering, program management, manufacturing, and quality teams
Review customer RFQs and specifications to ensure accurate technical and commercial responses
Build and maintain strong relationships with purchasing, engineering, and supplier development teams at OEM customers
Track program milestones to ensure successful launches, on-time delivery, and customer satisfaction
Support pricing strategies, cost breakdowns, and commercial negotiations
Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and customer needs to identify new business opportunities
Ensure compliance with customer-specific requirements and internal processes
Qualifications Bachelor’s degree required (Business, Engineering, or related field preferred)
Minimum 5+ years of automotive sales or account management experience
Proven experience managing the full program lifecycle (RFQ through launch) within the same organization
Demonstrated career stability and progression
Preferred Experience Direct experience working with Ford and/or Toyota
Familiarity with OEM internal RFQ, sourcing, and engineering systems (highly preferred but not required)
Experience with interior and/or exterior trim components
Background in plastic injection molded products
Technical & Functional Skills Strong understanding of automotive development and launch processes
Working knowledge of PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) and related quality requirements
Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and cost structures
Experience with program timing, APQP processes, and change management
Commercially savvy with strong negotiation and pricing skills
