Position Overview Mid‑Level and Lead level NDE technicians will lead nondestructive evaluation testing in our Berkeley, MO lab. The position is contract to permanent hire after six months of service. The Midwest Nondestructive Evaluation and Fleet Support team is part of the BDS Engineering department, supporting aerospace and defense programs including 787, 777X, F‑15, F‑18, AV‑8B, T‑7A, T‑45, MQ‑25, KC‑46, P‑8, B‑52, B‑1, KC‑135, Executive Transport, Commercial Crew, Space Launch, and weapon systems.
Position Responsibilities
Apply nondestructive evaluation (NDE) methods such as acoustic, electromagnetic, thermal, optical, and radiologic principles in complex analysis and evaluation of parts, materials, processes, or equipment to ensure safety, reliability and adherence to specifications.
Lead, coordinate, and conduct analysis of failed parts and processes to reduce future failures.
Generate test plans, identify and categorize failures, determine root cause, and document results and recommendations.
Maintain compliance with contractual and regulatory obligations.
Lead the proposal, development, and validation of revisions to procedures and specifications.
Determine suitability of parts, materials and processes and coordinate resolution of complex issues with suppliers and customers.
Support audits, root cause analyses, and failure investigations as a subject‑matter expert.
Lead the design, development, fabrication and testing of new concepts and technologies to support continuous improvement.
Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers and technicians.
Support the Team Lead in defining strategies and providing consultation.
Work 100% onsite at the St. Louis, MO location.
Obtain a U.S. Security Clearance (U.S. citizenship required); interim and/or final U.S. Secret clearance post‑start is required.
Basic Qualifications (Required)
5+ years of experience in nondestructive evaluation.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Knowledge of computer‑aided design tools and systems (CAD/CAM, CATIA, Mentor Graphics, Unigraphics).
ASNT Level 2 in Eddy Current and Ultrasonic NDE testing methods.
Ability to travel 10% of the time minimum.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired)
5+ years of hands‑on experience in NDE/NDT engineering in a regulated industry (aerospace, defense, energy).
Experience with ultrasonic testing, radiography, eddy current testing, and penetrant inspection.
ASNT Level 2 in multiple NDE processes.
Experience working in multidisciplinary teams and interacting with technical and non‑technical customers.
Strong understanding of materials behaviour, stress analysis, and fracture mechanics.
Experience with project management tools.
Excellent time‑management skills for multi‑project and multi‑location coordination.
Active / Current Secret U.S. Security Clearance preferred but not required.
Typical Education/Experience Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
