Senior Mechanical Engineer – Energy Storage
Strativ Group, San Diego, CA, United States
My client has revolutionized the energy storage sector with their zero-emission technology, eliminating the need for fossil fuels in industrial applications by storing energy as heat.
They’re backed by leading climate-tech investors and are entering their next phase of growth.
We're seeking a Mechanical Engineer who thrives in
ambiguous, clean-sheet design environments . This role will lead prototype development and scale-up efforts for their novel energy storage system.
What you will do:
Drive clean-sheet mechanical design of new energy storage components and subsystems
Work from first principles to define architecture, requirements, and form factor
Apply DFM principles for components including sheet metal and welded assemblies
Perform structural or thermal analysis as needed to validate concepts in high-pressure or extreme conditions
Innovate in materials and mechanisms to create first-of-its-kind hardware
Own the prototyping process — taking ideas from concept to physical reality
What you need to apply:
Minimum of 8 years in mechanical engineering roles involving from-scratch product development
Background in energy storage, aerospace, space, hardware startups, or similar industries where ambiguity and rapid iteration are the norm
Hands‑on, resourceful, and comfortable building and testing early‑stage prototypes
