Associate Director, Financial Reporting & Consolidation

Nearwater Capital, New York, NY, United States

The Opportunity Nearwater Capital is seeking an experienced professional to fill a key leadership role within our finance team owning the financial reporting and consolidation function. This is a high-impact role operating in a dynamic, deal-driven environment where financial reporting must keep pace with a complex and evolving portfolio of structured finance transactions.

You will lead the build-out of scalable consolidation and reporting infrastructure. You will also support the implementation of initiatives to improve the timeliness and quality of internal and external financial reporting, including KPIs and other reporting to inform management decision making and other stakeholder requirements.

What You’ll Do Own the consolidation process across all legal entities, including intercompany eliminations, and multi-currency reporting. Oversee preparation and sign-off of external financial statements and internal management reporting in accordance with US GAAP (IFRS knowledge a plus). Assist with ad hoc reporting requests from senior leadership, and other stakeholders in support of the firms business development initiatives. Define and govern the Global Chart of Accounts framework, driving standardization across entities and enforcing rigorous change control standards. Lead the discovery, selection, and implementation of the consolidation system — from business case through go-live — ensuring the platform can accommodate the complexity of structured finance transactions, multi-entity and multi-currency reporting. Play a key decision making role and support the implementation of the group financial reporting platform, ensuring seamless integration with upstream systems and embedding robust governance and control standards. Participate in the development of accounting and reporting procedures for new products and business initiatives, including assessing the US GAAP reporting and consolidation impact of new financing structures and instruments prior to close. Support the enhancement of the firm’s management reporting, by using technology solutions to create KPI and other visual dashboards, and the development of enhanced executive financial packs that provide insight into the key drivers of the firm’s performance. Be a proactive contributor, who is comfortable taking a hands on role and being accountable forthe financial reporting and consolidation function with the ability to build scalable processes and infrastructure from the ground up. Act as a key liaison with external auditors, tax advisors, lenders, and senior stakeholders on all financial reporting and consolidation matters.

What We’re Looking for 8–12+ years of experience in financial reporting, consolidations, or public accounting; background in banking, broker-dealer, or financial services strongly preferred. Expert-level US GAAP technical knowledge; IFRS exposure is a strong plus. Experience with complex finance structures, off-balance sheet arrangements, and the accounting treatment of structured finance transactions is highly desirable. Experience working with auditors and external stakeholders in a reporting capacity. Strong understanding of multi-entity and multi-currency consolidation environments. Proven experience leading consolidation or reporting system implementations, ideally in a high-growth or build-out environment.

How You Work You demonstrate strong executive presence and operate as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, with the ability to influence decisions in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment. You balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution, maintaining full ownership of reporting quality, accuracy, and delivery. You are comfortable operating in ambiguity and bring structure to complex, evolving situations, building scalable processes and control frameworks as the organization grows. You communicate complex accounting and financial concepts clearly and confidently to a wide range of stakeholders, including senior leadership, investors, and external partners.

What You’ll Get The opportunity to build and shape the financial reporting and consolidation function within a growing firm. Direct exposure to complex and evolving financial structures and transactions. A highly visible role with regular interaction with senior leadership and external stakeholders. The ability to design and implement reporting infrastructure and frameworks from the ground up. A fast-paced, intellectually rigorous environment where accuracy, ownership, and impact are highly valued.
