Position Overview The HVAC Project Lead manages the full lifecycle of HVAC projects—from scoping and planning to installation, commissioning support, and final handover. The role ensures projects meet technical, regulatory, safety, and commercial requirements.
Reporting to the General Manager, the Lead works across all Eirdata departments, the wider ESS group, and cross-functional engineering teams. The role also contributes to business growth through strong project governance and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities Project Delivery
Lead HVAC projects from initiation to closeout
Develop schedules, allocate resources, and maintain timelines
Oversee installation, engineering, and commissioning activities
Identify and manage project risks
Ensure documentation meets internal and GMP quality standards
Client & Stakeholder Engagement
Act as primary client contact
Lead surveys, meetings, and progress updates
Manage scope, issues, and change control
Maintain strong client relationships
Prepare quotations, budgets, and forecasts
Monitor project performance and profitability
Coordinate invoicing and project reporting
Review and manage subcontractor and vendor proposals
Coordinate engineers, technicians, and subcontractors
Provide mentoring and technical support
Promote teamwork, accountability, and continual improvement
Compliance, Safety & Quality
Ensure work is delivered in line with GMP, safety legislation, and SOPs
Liaise with auditors, quality teams, and regulatory bodies
Promote strong safety culture and risk management
Education & Qualifications
Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, or related Level 7/8 discipline
Experience Requirements
Minimum 5+ years HVAC/mechanical project delivery experience
Minimum 2+ years in a senior/lead engineering or project role
Experience delivering projects in GMP, pharma, or medical device environments
Background in cleanrooms, environmental control, or critical airflow systems
Experience with subcontractor management and cross-functional teams
Strong understanding of commissioning, BMS/controls, and system handover
Experience managing project budgets up to €1m+
Required Skills
Strong understanding of cleanroom classifications, pressure control, and HEPA systems
Experience with key HVAC utilities (chilled water, LPHW, AHUs, DX)
Knowledge of BMS/controls and troubleshooting
Ability to interpret HVAC drawings, P&IDs, and compliance documentation
Experience with commissioning and qualification (IQ/OQ/PQ)
Excellent communication and client-facing skills
Strong commercial awareness and project costing capability
Proficiency in scheduling, planning tools, and Microsoft Office
Strong technical writing and documentation skills
