Overview The Associate Technical Product Owner will assist in delivering high value to customers' needs across client products as well as internal agency initiatives. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop product and technical knowledge while working under the guidance of experienced stakeholders to support product requirements. By collaborating with account, strategy, analytics, and creative teams, the Associate Technical Product Owner will help translate the product vision and success criteria into actionable product iterations.
As a member of the Scrum Team, the Associate Technical Product Owner will participate in scrum ceremonies and closely work with Scrum Masters, Engineering Teams, and Creative Teams. The focus will be on managing and prioritizing the backlog effectively, ultimately contributing to quality control by ensuring that user stories meet completion criteria.
The Associate Technical Product Owner should be eager to learn about building software, balancing between understanding the big picture and focusing on detail‑oriented tasks.
What You’ll Do
Develop an understanding of product features and technical requirements with guidance from senior team members.
Communicate with development teams to align technical goals with the product vision.
Support the development and maintenance of product roadmaps, learning to integrate both short‑term and long‑term strategies.
Define product requirements to ensure they meet customer and business priorities.
Lead backlog refinement sessions to ensure alignment and readiness among stakeholders and developers.
Contribute to efficient backlog management by keeping requirements up‑to‑date and addressing changes promptly.
Support the development team in achieving productivity goals by aligning efforts with business and technical objectives.
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to define and refine product requirements.
Foster communication with stakeholders and team members to align expectations.
Translate stakeholder feedback into actionable product increments.
Identify learning opportunities for process improvements and product enhancements under supervision.
Explore opportunities for product innovation and workflow optimization with a focus on learning.
Promote and advocate for the product and technical vision alongside more experienced team members.
Monitor and learn to analyze product and technical KPIs with guidance.
Help maximize customer value by participating in the creation of product increments.
Actively participate in all Scrum Ceremonies, gaining hands‑on experience in sprint planning, daily stand‑ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
Define detailed user stories under the guidance of senior team members.
Identify and manage product dependencies both internally and externally.
Help approve finalized requirements and conduct validation checks before releases.
Maintain open channels for feedback and remain open to adapting strategies based on new insights.
What You Bring
BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field; Product Owner certification or equivalent experience is a plus.
2+ years of progressive experience in Product Management or Technical Product Ownership.
An aptitude for organization and a friendly communication style, with openness to learning varied techniques.
Focus on active listening.
Strong communication skills—both written and verbal—across diverse cross‑functional teams.
Capability to balance understanding the big picture with strong attention to detail.
Foundational knowledge/exposure to agile methodologies (like Scrum) and product development paired with an eagerness to gain hands‑on experience.
Aspiration to understand and create product roadmaps while setting measurable goals and KPIs.
Familiarity with web fundamentals and APIs.
Experience with content management systems and task tracking tools.
Curiosity to explore AI tools for workflow efficiency improvements.
Familiarity with articulating product functionalities clearly.
Ability to build rapport and collaborate well with stakeholders and team members across different disciplines (engineers, creatives, etc.).
Strong problem‑solving skills.
