MissionHires is seeking an HVAC Controls Designer/Programmer (Controls Technician/Programmer) in Providence, RI to design, program, and commission BAS/BMS systems—primarily Metasys. This full-time role blends hands‑on field work with project coordination, spanning hardware selection, control system design, programming, startups, commissioning, documentation, and customer handoff. Ideal for technicians with 3+ years in HVAC controls and strong Metasys experience who want stability, training, and growth.

How You’ll Contribute

Develop hardware selections and control system designs per project requirements

Create flow diagrams, sequences of operation, bills of material, network layouts, and electrical schematics

Program HVAC control systems using established standards (focus on Metasys)

Prepare and support submittals: coordinate drawings, equipment schedules, and technical documentation

Order and track materials; coordinate with factory builds and project schedules

Assist with system startup, controller loading, and full system commissioning

Troubleshoot controls issues with subcontractors and trades to ensure proper system operation

Capture field changes and produce as‑built drawings and updated programming

Support customer handoff, documentation delivery, and basic system operation training

Communicate progress, issues, and timelines to project teams and stakeholders

Complete standard project documentation (timesheets, reports, etc.)

Maintain rigorous safety practices on all work sites

What Makes You a Great Fit

Approximately 3+ years of experience with building automation/HVAC controls

Hands‑on experience installing or commissioning Metasys systems (system‑level controllers)

Proficiency with Metasys tools such as CCT, SCT, RAC schedules, and Visio

Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and control systems

Demonstrated technical aptitude with design and programming tools

Preferred: Associate’s or Bachelor’s in Mechanical, Electrical, or Computer Science, or 5+ years in HVAC/controls

Preferred: Broader experience in control system design, commissioning, or building system integration
