Job Summary Reporting to the CRC Director, the Assistant Director, Operations CRC leads the GCITC CRC cybersecurity strategy and operations, including security architecture, control baselines, incident response, threat management, resilience, and sector‑specific compliance, ensuring they are in accordance with the vision and mission of the Georgia Cyber Innovation and Training Center and the State of Georgia. The role authors security policies and standards for CRC Director approval and is accountable for Security Operations Center (SOC) capabilities, automation, and measurable security KPIs. The Assistant Director will work with the CRC Director to identify and drive synergies across GCITC CRC programs and partnerships and execute GCITC CRC programs and product strategies.

Responsibilities

Strategy and Governance

Support the CRC Director in end‑to‑end management of the CRC program and oversee multiple team members.

Integrate CRC outputs into a scalable, high‑quality, and measurable enterprise capability.

Author security policies and standards, run IS governance, and ensure compliance with HIPAA, CJIS, NIST CSF, and CIS Controls.

Utilize deep knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks and regulatory environments to align with organizational strategy.

Support implementation of GCITC CRC educational research and entrepreneurial programs aligned with the center’s vision.

Ensure confidentiality, integrity, and availability of systems and data; lead incident response and resilience.

Operations and Business Development

Assist the CRC Director in identifying and executing business growth opportunities and new revenue streams.

Translate enterprise goals into security roadmaps and operating plans.

Oversee staffing, budgeting, and contracting for three to five CRC Program Coordinator teams.

Guide funding, service expansion, and resource allocation using knowledge of finance and workforce planning.

Demonstrate advanced leadership, mentoring, and talent development skills.

Ensure efficient operation of GCITC CRC service deliverables and implement appropriate resources.

Support development of employment and administrative policies in adherence to Augusta University policies.

Recruit, hire, and retain qualified staff under purview.

Financial Performance and Viability

Support development of resources sufficient to ensure financial health of GCITC CRC.

Manage fiscal responsibilities within approved budget, ensuring high resource utilization.

Handle P&L responsibilities, prepare annual budgets, and report KPIs reflecting financial condition.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, cybersecurity, or business administration.

Ten or more years of cybersecurity team management experience.

Five or more years of executive management experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree in a cyber‑related or business administration field.

Proven record of transparent and high‑integrity leadership in managing cybersecurity frameworks and processes.

Knowledge of the cybersecurity industry, key players, trends, and opportunities.

Experience working with Operational Technology / Industrial Control Systems (ICS).

Experience in leading process improvement initiatives.

Federal government or military experience.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases.

Hands‑on budget management skills, including preparation, analysis, decision‑making, and reporting.

Strong organizational, planning, delegating, and program development skills.

Excellent oral and written communication; strong public speaking.

Ability to maintain confidentiality; convey strategic vision to stakeholders.

Demonstrated ability to oversee, collaborate with, and motivate peers, staff, and community partners.

Ability to interface and engage with various staff, customers, and community stakeholders.

Shift / Salary / Benefits Shift: Days / M‑F (Work outside of normal business hours may be required). Pay Band: B18. Salary: Minimum $125,900 annually; commensurate with qualifications within the established range. Recruitment Period: Until Filled. Benefits: Health, dental, and life insurance; Teachers Retirement System (or Optional Retirement Plan); earned vacation, sick leave, and 13 paid holidays. Full‑time employees employed >6 months may be considered for Tuition Assistance Program.

Conditions of Employment All selected candidates must pass a Background Check review prior to starting. Depending on duties, a credit check may be required for Positions of Trust or approved departmental Purchase Card usage. Motor vehicle reports are required for positions that require driving an Augusta University vehicle. For Faculty Hires, proof of completed academic degree(s) and post‑secondary coursework must be provided.
