Summary/Objective A Superintendent oversees the operations of a construction site, from planning to completion. The duties of a construction superintendent will vary; however, they can expect to be responsible for, including but not limited to, coordinating and supervising all construction activities, directing all field personnel to achieve completion of the project on schedule, maintaining open and daily communications on projects with Project Manager and administrative staff, creating and updating project schedules for on-time delivery; evaluating the effectiveness and performance of field personnel and their crews, verifying and inspecting that materials installed are in compliance with the Contract Documents and approved submittals, completing daily reports and daily timesheets on the job site, attending meetings on and off-site as directed and promoting safety practices and procedures. (The location for this job varies, based on the candidate's state home location)

Work with architects, engineers and/or consultants in pre-development/planning of upcoming projects to assist in obtaining permits and/or approval of revisions of plans etc.
Work with Project Manager to prepare a construction baseline schedule including sequencing of critical path items.
Prepare project lookaheads that align with the approved Project / Contract Schedule to be presented to subcontractors and client and maintain and update on a weekly basis.
Schedule and plan with subcontractors/ vendors in critical path to ensure timely completion of their contracted scope of work.
Field supervision of daily work of subcontractors, suppliers and/or vendors including flow of materials on/off job site and coordinating access by approved personnel to their work areas.
Perform quality control duties and responsibilities regarding the work being performed.
Ensure that subcontractors are fully executing and complying with their contracted scope of work.
Preside over weekly subcontractor meetings designed to coordinate the current/future work.
Coordinate all required inspections with local, state, and federal jurisdictions for code compliance.
Identify subcontractor non-compliance with safety, health, and environmental quality standards and remedy on site and/or report to management for further resolution if the need arises.
Identify conflicts or issues with construction progress and communicate with Subcontractors for resolution. Follow through with Subcontractors, NDC Project Manager and to management for further discussion and resolution of such if needed.
Thoroughly understands project specifications, drawings, the contract, and the contract's general conditions, and confirms that all materials and subcontracts work comply with contract documents and quality specifications.
Explores and advises the project team on appropriate changes in methods, materials schedules, and procedures. Ensures all materials are properly tested according to specifications and ensures that all test results are properly recorded.
Maintain daily reports of activities and/or happenings on the job site.
Ensure subcontractors have corrected all deficiencies identified by management in a documented way.
Meet regularly with accounting and management to review overall project progress and compliance with approved project schedules and/or budgets.
Issue notices of non-compliance to subcontractors regarding quality of work or scheduling and coordinate with Project Manager on issuing back charges if corrective action involves third party remedies outside normal scope of work.
Ensure that the job site is always kept in a clean and organized manner.
As needed, assist in the budgeting, bid process and awarding of contracts to subcontractors, suppliers, or consultants.
Maintain project files for materials, tracking submissions, safety data sheets, operation manuals, approvals & permitting etc.
Perform Superintendent duties at multiple job sites, simultaneously if necessary.
Opening of the job site(s) at beginning of the day and securing job site(s) at end of the day.
Walk job site throughout the day to monitor activities and assist in future planning.
Confirms that extra charges from subcontractors/suppliers are reasonable and work is correctly executed. Coordinates with Project Manager for approval on extra charges.
Coordinates with Project Manager on review and payment of bills for material and subcontractor requisitions.
Mentor and develop junior staff.

This role has supervisory responsibilities of the people in the assigned projects.
Work Environment
Outdoor Environment: Most work will be conducted outdoors, exposed to the elements. This includes working in hot, cold, rainy, or windy conditions. Appropriate clothing and safety gear will be provided to help mitigate environmental risks.
Physical Demands
Walk, climb stairs, sit, and stand.
Talk and hear at normal levels.
See with close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and have the ability to adjust focus.
Reach with hands and arms.

Expected Hours of Work Construction projects often follow strict timelines. As a result, you may be required to work after hours, including evenings and weekends, to meet project deadlines.
Travel This position requires frequent travel to the various projects located in the East Coast, and other states.
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in construction management, civil engineering, architecture or related field.
5 to 10 years or more in the construction industry with a minimum experience of 2 years as a Lead Superintendent (5 years with degree, 10 years without a degree).
Experience in commercial and government construction.
Proven track record of successfully overseeing projects.
Familiarity with OSHA regulations.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications Must be able to get a background check and drug test.
Work Authorization Must be eligible to work in the United States.
