The Director Research Funding Administration will set the strategy for a high-impact grants and sponsored programs portfolio, aligning external funding with clinical, translational, and health-services priorities across the hospital; as Director Research Funding Administration, this leader will drive pipeline growth, cultivate foundation and industry partnerships, optimize pre- and post-award operations, and ensure regulatory excellence under NIH, FDA, OMB Uniform Guidance, and state compliance requirements. Within Philanthropy and Research—spanning development, advancement, grants, and scientific inquiry—the Director Research Funding Administration will connect donor intent to investigator impact, translating community generosity into breakthrough studies and care-enhancing initiatives; this Philanthropy and Research enterprise operates amid MAGNET designated excellence, a renowned stroke center, continuous adoption of new technology, and recognition as amongst top hospitals in San Francisco Area, creating an ideal environment to scale funding for transformative science and compassionate care. The Director will report to senior research leadership with a strong partnership to the foundation executive team and finance, leading talented pre- and post-award specialists, grants managers, contracts analysts, and data experts while supporting PIs, service line chiefs, and friendly nurses within a diverse, collaborative clinical workforce; the Director will oversee lifecycle management from opportunity scanning, LOIs, and complex budgeting to contract negotiation, subaward administration, effort reporting, cost-recovery optimization, audits, and outcomes storytelling, empowered by streamlined EHR-integrated workflows, analytics dashboards, and clinician-friendly tools.
