Associate’s degree or technical certification in Electrical Engineering Technology, Drafting, or a related field
5+ years of experience as an Electrical Designer or Electrical Drafter in a consulting engineering or A/E firm
Proficiency in AutoCAD; Revit experience strongly preferred
Working knowledge of electrical systems design and construction documentation
Familiarity with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and standard industry practices
Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, and MEP drawings
Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
Experience with lighting design software (e.g., AGi32, Visual Lighting)
Exposure to power system analysis tools (e.g., SKM, ETAP, EasyPower)
Experience working on commercial, healthcare, federal, industrial, or institutional projects
Understanding of construction administration and field coordination
Progress toward an engineering degree or EIT certification
Job Description
Develop detailed electrical design drawings, layouts, and schematics using AutoCAD and/or Revit for power distribution, lighting, grounding, fire alarm, and low-voltage systems
Assist in the design of electrical systems for new construction, renovations, and facility upgrades
Perform basic electrical calculations, including load calculations, short circuit analysis, voltage drop, and lighting calculations
Prepare construction documents, schedules, and technical specifications under the direction of a licensed Electrical Engineer
Coordinate electrical designs with mechanical, civil, structural, architectural, and plumbing disciplines
Ensure designs comply with applicable codes and standards (NEC, NFPA, IES, local and state codes)
Review submittals, shop drawings, and RFIs for conformance with design intent
Participate in design reviews, internal coordination meetings, and client discussions as needed
Support site visits, field observations, and construction administration activities
Maintain organized project files and follow company drafting and quality standards
