Job Summary
Our Sheet Metal division at RC Metalworks has an exciting opportunity for a
Delivery Driver / Shop Associate
in our Johnston, RI office. As our delivery driver, you will be responsible for helping to load and deliver materials and supplies to our construction jobs, assisting with organizing and cleaning the shop, inventory control, building maintenance, fleet up‑keep, and filling in as needed for other tasks.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
Performs a variety of duties in the delivery of construction materials to job sites, including the loading and unloading of supplies.
Plans route to insure most economical and efficient use of time and equipment.
Obtains construction materials/supplies from shop or picks up from vendor and delivers to job site.
Receives materials into the shop, verifies accuracy and stores in a safe manner.
Picks up items along the scheduled route, including items to be returned, company orders, and other items as requested.
Delivers to correct addresses, obtaining signatures and proof of receipt when necessary.
Reports service needs and mechanical issues of vehicle or equipment to supervisor.
Assists in general warehouse and building management duties when delivery route is completed or as requested, including leaf and debris removal, landscaping and snow removal (i.e. shoveling and plowing). Some work done on rooftop, etc.
Performs all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards.
Education and Experience
1 year of relevant delivery driver experience or any equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to do the job.
Use of a Windows computer helpful.
Must have valid driver license with acceptable driving record and ability to obtain CDL medical card.
Ability to pass a background check and a drug screen.
Required Skills and Abilities
Ability to drive safely.
Ability to use navigation tools such as onboard GPS, smartphone apps, and/or web‑based or physical maps.
Ability to plan delivery routes.
Ability to maintain basic logs and records.
Ability to become a certified forklift driver.
Ability to carry out a series of instructions without constant supervision.
Able to remain professional and courteous at all times.
Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without needing current or future sponsorship.
Must be able to pass a drug test and a background check.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. regularly, 75 lbs. occasionally.
Must be able to load and unload packages with and without dollies in various types of weather.
Must be able to work at rooftop heights, using a ladder.
Must be able to work outside in the elements.
