Position Summary
The Program Director – IOP serves as the designated clinical and administrative leader for all Arizona IOP services.
This individual is accountable for the following within the IOP program:
Multi-site operational performance
Clinical quality and treatment integrity
Patient safety and risk management
Census growth and retention
ADHS and Joint Commission compliance
The Director works closely with the Arizona Medical Director, who retains authority for psychiatric and medical decision-making.
This is a builder’s role within a growing, multi-state behavioral health organization.
Scope of Leadership Operational authority includes:
Program structure and clinical workflow
Staffing recommendations and performance management
Interdisciplinary coordination
Census and retention performance
Compliance readiness and quality improvement
Clinical oversight is exercised within the Director’s Arizona license and does not supersede the Medical Director’s psychiatric authority.
Core Responsibilities
Program Leadership & Growth
Lead operations across three IOP sites
Oversee staffing, scheduling, programming, and patient flow
Drive census stability and responsible growth
Monitor KPIs and implement operational improvements
Support service-line expansion initiatives
Clinical Quality & Safety
Ensure evidence-based, psychiatry-integrated care
Oversee treatment planning, case review, and documentation integrity
Monitor outcomes and lead performance improvement initiatives
Oversee risk screening, incident review, and corrective action
Regulatory & Accreditation
Maintain ADHS compliance
Ensure continuous Joint Commission readiness
Oversee documentation standards and policy adherence
Team & Cross-Functional Leadership
Supervise IOP clinical staff and support professional development
Maintain credential and competency oversight
Direct admissions, collaborate with utilization management, revenue cycle, and executive leadership
Foster a culture of accountability and patient-centered care
Clinical Services (As Appropriate)
Maintain a limited caseload aligned with operational needs
Clinical duties must not interfere with leadership responsibilities

Requirements Qualifications Required
Active, unrestricted Arizona clinical license (LPC, LCSW, LMFT, Psychologist, or equivalent)
5+ years behavioral health experience
3+ years in IOP/PHP or higher levels of care
Experience in clinical or program leadership
Knowledge of ADHS regulations and Joint Commission standards
Preferred
Prior Program Director or Clinical Director experience
Direct ADHS or Joint Commission survey experience
Experience with eating disorder populations
Multi-site leadership experience
