The newly formed Johns Bay Coastal Alliance Education Service Center is seeking a collaborative and experienced Part-Time Director of Special Services. The JBCA is the central office unit that will operate the Bristol Consolidated School and the South Bristol School (both are Pre-K–8 schools), and administer all secondary education (9-12) provided through municipally-tuitioned school choice. This is a 3-day/week (.6 FTE) position starting on July 1, 2026. This individual will provide leadership for the overall administration of special education and related services. Additional responsibilities include District 504 Coordinator and McKinney-Vento Homeless Liaison.
Desired Qualifications
Maine Department of Education Special Education Administrator Certification (030). Master’s degree in Special Education or related field. Minimum five (5) years of experience in special education teaching or leadership. Demonstrated experience coordinating IEP processes and special education programming. Strong knowledge of IDEA, Section 504, and Maine Department of Education regulations. Experience coordinating high school and out-of-district placements. Ability to coordinate and supervise psychologists and related service providers, as well as outside contractors.
