
Project Director - Healthcare Construction

We are partnered with a nationally recognized general contractor delivering large-scale healthcare construction projects and are seeking a Project Director/Executive to lead operations in the Charleston, SC or Charlotte, NC markets.
This is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing execution of major healthcare projects, including hospital campuses and complex medical facilities often exceeding $500M in value. These projects involve phased construction, active hospital environments, and highly coordinated building systems.
The Director of Construction will lead project teams, drive operational performance, and serve as a key point of contact for clients and stakeholders.
Role and Responsibilities
Provide overall leadership for one or multiple large-scale healthcare projects from preconstruction through turnover
Oversee Project Managers, Superintendents, and field teams to ensure alignment across schedule, cost, safety, and quality
Lead execution of complex healthcare builds including work in active, occupied hospital environments with phased construction and turnover
Ensure compliance with healthcare-specific requirements including infection control protocols and regulatory standards
Support coordination of major building systems and ensure integration with construction sequencing
Monitor project performance, identify risks, and drive solutions related to schedule, cost, and constructability
Serve as a primary point of contact for owners, healthcare systems, and executive stakeholders
Support business development efforts and maintain strong client relationships
Lead and mentor project teams while driving accountability and performance
Qualifications and Experience
10+ years of construction experience with progression into leadership roles
Proven experience leading large-scale healthcare projects ($500M+)
Strong background in hospital or complex medical facility construction
Experience working in occupied healthcare environments with phased construction
Strong leadership and team management experience
Solid understanding of project financials, risk management, and execution
