
Associate Designer, Cut Ups & Special Projects

As the Associate Designer for Cut Ups & Special Projects, you have a strong background in accessories design. You are detail oriented, organized, have strong technical skills and the ability to multitask and manage competing calendar deadlines. You are collaborative, a strong communicator, results driven and thrive in a rapidly changing environment.
What You’ll Do:
Understand the Michael Kors aesthetic and translate it into the product
Will work closely with VP in seasonal conceptualization and creation of design concepts for cut ups and special projects across several channels
Ensure the product is appropriate for each channel (design, cost, function) and does not compete with similar product in another channel
Partner with Handbag and SLG Design to make sure cut ups tie back and follow overall direction and details
Responsible for entire product design process including market research, designing, sketching, specing and function
Oversee product from concept right up to production and communicate any changes to factories.
Maintain a library of cut up and special product specific seasonal product offerings, master specs, and design standards
Collaborate with Merchandising and Technical Design to finalize the line each season for Cutup channel.
Responsible for researching global markets to identify new trends, materials, novelty techniques, etc.
You’ll Need to Have:
2-4 years of design experience within accessories design
Ability to work in the NYC office
Strong Technical Skills
Proficiency with Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
Skills to multitask and manage competing calendar deadlines
Ability to set a creative tone and to inspire ideas/new concepts
Ability to conceptually visualize and build a line
Experience communicating the development with factories
