Coolabah Capital Investments is a leading global fixed-income investor managing over $13 billion for institutional and retail clients. The Firm focuses on generating alpha from security-specific positions through highly quantitative proprietary models. The team includes a 12-person portfolio management team and 20 analysts across a total of 59 talented, full-time staff located in our offices in Miami, London, Nassau, Sydney, Melbourne and Auckland.

About the role The role is for a highly quantitative junior trader position within the portfolio management team, based in Miami. The successful individual will report to the US and European Head of Trading. The role is a permanent, full-time position, and the successful candidate will be expected to be in the office 5 days a week.

Key responsibilities include:

Trade implementation and execution across OTC cash, derivatives and listed domains.

Portfolio reporting and risk management.

Idea generation in relation to actionable alpha across the entire fixed‑income asset‑class.

Deep quantitative analysis of investment opportunities.

Contributions to further supporting the entire investment team.

Skills and experience We welcome applications from highly motivated and talented candidates with approximately 1–2 years’ experience in fixed income or credit markets. Graduate candidates, who can demonstrate exceptional academic credentials and who have gained relevant exposure through internships or early‑career roles, may also be considered. A background in Financials is advantageous but not essential.

Exceptional academic record and problem‑solving abilities.

Exposure to investment grade (IG) credit instruments, interest rate markets, or broader fixed income markets.

Track‑record of superior performance and decision making under pressure.

Highly quantitative skills and modelling capabilities.

Coding experience is an advantage, ideally in Python or R.

Exceptional attention to detail.

Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.

High‑intensity work ethic and willingness to work outside normal hours when required.

Track‑record of high academic achievement, ideally in a quantitative discipline.

High levels of honesty, reliability and dependability.

It is expected that a market‑competitive contract will be agreed with the opportunity to participate in the bonus pool, including equity participation over time.
