Director of Merchandising

serves as the business owner for an assigned product category. This role is responsible for defining assortment strategy, developing and launching new products, managing vendor partnerships, and driving category performance across sales, margin, and inventory productivity.

Blending creative product intuition with data‑driven decision making, the director identifies opportunities in the market, translates customer needs into compelling product solutions, and ensures the product category remains relevant, competitive, and profitable. Working cross‑functionally with product development, marketing, supply chain, and vendor partners, this role leads the development and execution of merchandising strategies that support Stuller's long‑term growth and strengthen our position as an industry leader.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and execute merchandising strategies that drive growth and profitability for assigned jewelry product categories.

Curate and manage a compelling assortment of core and trend‑driven jewelry products aligned with customer demand and market trends.

Identify assortment gaps and lead new product development initiatives with internal teams and vendor partners.

Manage the full product lifecycle from concept and sourcing through launch, optimization, and ongoing lifecycle management.

Analyze category performance including sales, margins, sell‑through, inventory productivity, and product velocity to inform merchandising decisions.

Forecast product demand and partner with supply chain and planning teams to maintain appropriate inventory levels.

Build and maintain strong relationships with vendor partners and negotiate pricing, terms, and product offerings.

Identify and onboard new vendors and product resources that strengthen the product assortment.

Monitor industry trends, competitive offerings, and customer insights to guide assortment and pricing decisions.

Partner with marketing to support product launches, promotions, and merchandising campaigns.

Contribute to the creation and execution of catalogs, brochures, and digital marketing materials.

Present category strategies, product concepts, and business performance insights to internal stakeholders.

Lead, mentor, and develop a team responsible for executing merchandising strategies and category initiatives.

Align and coordinate cross‑functional teams across merchandising, marketing, product development, supply chain, and sales to support successful product launches and category growth.

Serve as a product category expert and key internal resource for product knowledge.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Merchandising, Business, Marketing, or a related field, or 10 years equivalent work experience

Professional experience in buying, merchandising, or category management

Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret business data and market trends

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word

Strong communication and presentation skills

Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities

Proven negotiation and relationship‑building skills

Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, cross‑functional environment

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of jewelry, gemstones, and jewelry manufacturing processes

Experience managing product assortments and vendor relationships

Understanding of retail merchandising principles including margin, sell‑through, and inventory productivity
