Responsibilities Summary This position oversees the Continuum of Care’s Case Management program and staff to ensure that it operates within the requirements of the contract and in accordance with the GEO Continuum of Care. Key components include specialized staff training, enhanced GEOtrack case management, evidence‑based interventions, education and vocational programs, transition planning, and post‑release support. This position supervises the Case Managers and provides counseling services and assists inmates in selecting appropriate therapeutic, cognitive behavioral, educational or vocational programs.
Primary Duties And Responsibilities
Ensures all Case Managers receive appropriate training for their designated responsibilities and caseload ratios are managed appropriately. Conducts staff meetings regularly.
Responsible for the utilization of GEO’s proprietary electronic case management system “GEOtrack” to ensure integrity of case management data input and appropriate application to record case management notes, contacts, transition plans, etc.
Responsible for ensuring that inmates are properly assessed and placed in programs responsive to the needs identified in the assessment process. Monitors inmates' custody, housing, job and program assignments to ensure inmates are reviewed in a timely manner.
Serves as a member of the Institutional Classification Committee (ICC). Establishes ICC dockets. Coordinates case management needs with other departments.
Provides individual counseling to inmates on an informal basis regarding work and housing assignments, adjustment problems, and family problems, if needed. Makes referrals for inmates with serious problems to professional counseling staff.
Reviews inmate activity plans developed by Case Managers to ensure they meet standards.
Conducts monthly audits to ensure classification department to ensure adherence to applicable department procedures. Supervises implementation of department procedures.
Responsible for compliance with ACA standards pertaining to classification, records, inmate job assignments, and unit orientation. Develops plan of action for deficiencies.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Minimum Requirements
Five (5) years in caseload management of offenders in a correctional setting. Experience as a Supervisor preferred. Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, sociology, or a closely related field is desirable; however, a Bachelor's degree in other fields is acceptable; or four (4) years correctional experience or certified law enforcement officer experience with minimum high school diploma or GED certificate.
Must be knowledgeable of the Agency’s Classification Plan, applicable court orders or decrees, and ACA standards which relate to classification.
Possess or develop a thorough understanding of the Principles of Effective Intervention that empirical evidence demonstrates reduces recidivism.
Ability to prepare written reports; to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; and to learn rules, regulations, and security procedures required by the facility.
