
Director of Simulation Emergency Medicine Residency Program

Overview
Lead and advance a robust, multi-level simulation program for emergency medicine (EM) residents in one of the most high-volume and innovative public hospital systems in the country. This is a fully and continuously accredited, three-year EM residency in its sixth year with 10 residents per class. Oversee simulation curriculum, operations, and faculty development, ensuring alignment with ACGME standards, clinical excellence, and institutional mission.
Responsibilities
Direct the simulation curriculum for all PGY levels, tailoring education to resident needs (from fundamentals to advanced leadership)
Integrate simulation-based learning with cutting-edge teaching strategies, adult learning theory, and contemporary educational methods
Lead and mentor a team of faculty, simulation specialists, and support staff; provide faculty development in simulation-based education
Develop and implement assessment tools for procedural skills and clinical decision-making; support individualized remediation
Drive interdisciplinary and inter-professional simulation, collaborating with other departments and training programs
Lead and support simulation-based research, quality improvement, and national-level scholarly activity
Mentor residents and faculty, foster professional development, and promote networking within national simulation societies (SAEM Simulation Academy)
Participate as EM core faculty
Serve on Clinical Competency and Program Evaluation Committees; utilize simulation for resident assessment and program development
Prepare residents for national competitions (e.g., Sim Wars), support procedural skills training, and integrate simulation into quality improvement initiatives
Prepare residents for the new oral boards
Promote innovation and creative expansion in simulation and medical education technology at MHS

Memorial Regional: Level 1 Trauma center with 90,000 ED visits
Joe DiMaggio: Our own world class pediatric hospital with an incredible 75,000 ED visits
